The Big Sur Bar Review
Happy Saturday! I hope you are enjoying https://ingredientsofafitchick.comusually hear from me on Saturday’s, but I received some samples of this yummy bar and I wanted to share them with you! I hope you don’t mind me sneaking into your Saturday for a moment ?
I was contacted by the Big Sur Bar team about sampling their new line of bars and of course, I couldn’t say no! I always love trying new things! When the box arrived I was blown away by the size of these bars!! They are literally BIG SUR!!! Each bar is 5.3oz!! Holy Cow that is huge!! But we know I LOVE big portions!
All of the bars are:
NO artificial flavors, colors or preservatives • NO trans fats • NO hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils • NO high fructose corn syrup • NO sulfites • Non-irradiated • NOGMO.
The first bar I tried was the Blind Date Bar
It was AMAZING!!
It is hearty bar with an oatmeal bottom and a thick, crunchy, delicious mix of pecans, almonds, coconut, dates, roasted sunflower seeds, brown sugar and honey on top.
As you can see, the size of these bars are NO JOKE!!! Check out how thick that bad boy is!!

The final bar I tried was the Original Bar
NUTRITION FACTS: Serving Size 1.67 oz (47g), Servings per Container 3, Calories 200, Calories from Fat 90, Total Fat 11g (16%), Saturated Fat 4g (21%), Trans Fat 0g, Cholesterol 30mg (9%), Sodium 75mg (3%), Total Carbohydrate 25g (8%), Dietary Fiber 2g (7%), Sugars 15g, Protein 4g, Vitamin A 4%, Vitamin C 0%, Calcium 2%, Iron 8%
Ingredients: Oats, unbleached flour, almonds, pecans, raisins, coconut, semi-sweet chocolate chips, brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter, eggs, honey, vanilla, baking soda (aluminum free), baking powder (aluminum free).
Of all of the bars, the White Zest was by far my favorite! The Blind Date came in 2nd. I am not a huge chocolate fan, which is why the Original would be my 3rd favorite.
Although these bars are super delicious, they are very sweet! Even for someone like me who loves their sweet treats! They are also gigantic in size! I had to divide each bar into 3 portions to make a reasonable sized snack for myself. I would say that those are the 2 draw backs of the bars. I understand that ‘Big Sur’ is associated with tough, endurance like activity, but for the every day person, 600 calories in a bar is quite a lot!
But I guarantee that if you eat them in moderation, you will love the flavor!!
If you are interested in trying these bars head to The Big Sur website to check them out! The flavors will not disappoint you! And for all my high endurance athletes, these will definitely be a great addition to your nutrition box!
Have a great Saturday Friends!
